PRIDE will begin shipping the redesigned Special Olympics specialty license plate the week of March 29th. All license plates will be delivered to Tax collector's offices by April 14th, and be available for sale. The mission of Special Olympics Florida is to provide year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities who wish to participate, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community. The ultimate objective of Special Olympics Florida is to help people with intellectual disabilities participate as productive and respected members of society at large, by offering them a fair opportunity to develop and demonstrate their skills and talents through sports training and competition, and by increasing the public’s awareness of their capabilities and needs. Special Olympics Florida, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. The 2022 Special Olympics USA Games be held in Orlando, June 5-12, and will feature 4,000 athletes, 10,000 volunteers, and 125,000 fans, all of whom will unite in the Orlando area and participate in one of the country’s most cherished sporting events.
Athletes will compete in 16 Olympic-type team and individual sports sports. The Games will promote the ideals of acceptance and inclusion through sport, and showcase the athleticism and abilities of people with intellectual disabilities, while highlighting Special Olympics’ work in sport, education, health and community-building.
