Blue angels specialty license plate presale vouchers soaring - 2,040 as of 11/6/20.

​Governor Ron DeSantis signed House Bill 1135 into law, approving the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation's Blue Angels specialty license plate. The plate features four blue and gold F/A-18s between the words "Florida" and "Home of the Blue Angels."
The Department of Motor Vehicle's process to establish a new specialty license plate requires the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation to sell 3,000 vouchers. According to Escambia County Tax Collector's office, 2,040 have been purchased as of November 6, 2020.
The voucher is redeemable for the plate once the sale requirement has been met and the plates are in production. This is accomplished by pre–sale of a voucher that indicates drivers will purchase the plate. Purchasing a voucher ensures the plate will go into production as quickly as possible. "There's a lot of enthusiasm throughout the state about this tag," said Duane Thiessen, President and CEO of the Naval Aviation Museum Foundation. "Revenues generated from the plate will support STEM education programs and ensure the next generation of children and adults have access to our unique collection of aircraft and exhibits," said Thiessen.​ You can order by clicking here (additional fees apply) or at your local Tax Collector's office or DMV.

When the license plate on the presale voucher becomes authorized, the voucher can only be used with the issuance of that specific license plate; which can be processed at the time the license plate becomes available or when the customer’s current license plate is renewed.
If the plate fails to meet the presale voucher requirements within the two-year period the plate will not be manufactured and the customer may apply the presale voucher towards a different specialty license plate or apply for a refund for the specialty license plate fee only. Form HSMV 83363 is used to apply for a refund.
Also, FLHSMV may de-authorize a specialty license plate and discontinue its issuance if the number of valid specialty license plate registrations falls below 3,000 valid registrations or 4,000 valid registrations for out-of-state colleges or universities
for at least 12 consecutive months. If the plate associated with the presale voucher meets the voucher minimum but is subsequently de-authorized before the voucher is used, the voucher cannot be used towards a different specialty plate or be refunded.
